Yesterday, I went out with a really fun group of TGI’s previous IDC candidates to finish off the MSDT Internship. We finished with the Search and Recovery Specialty Instructor Course dives. We had two teams of three completing underwater searches for a number of hidden objects at Koh Tao’s beautiful Aow Leuk (Deep Bay). Riam, Massimo, Sarah, Chris, Adam and John did a great job and provided me with a lot of laughs! As they found all their objects (with the exception of my pencil), I bought the first round of drinks in the Buddha Bar once we were back on land. The Search and Recovery for my pencil was, unfortunately, a downer on all the day’s training, but in all other regards, it was a successful afternoon. Congratulations guys on attaining the esteemed MSDT rating!
Now, it’s back to teaching the IDC for me. Mark’s been taking the new guys through the IDC prep course and is going to be off on holiday to the north of Thailand as I get to complete the Instrucor Development Course and the Emergency First Response Instructor (EFRI) Course with Kristina and John. With only two Candidates on the current program, both of whom are very well-prepared (I hope!) it should be a good time and a lot of fun. I’ll start tomorrow morning with the Rescue Diver Skill Circuit in the pool. Looking forward to the next few weeks.
Adam’s devastated about the loss of my pencil… and begins the search
No pencil here…
Riam can’t find my pencil either…
Chris searches for my pencil… to no avail…
