The final IDC of the year is now nearing completion on Koh Tao. The crew from Thailand Gap Internships is just putting the final touches on the December PADI Instructor Course. Again diversity is the key for this group with candidates coming from as far afield as Egypt, Canada, Austria and Sweden for training by our great staff from the US, Australia, Singapore and Jordan. It always adds a lot of interest and allows for interesting conversations to have such varying backgrounds in the group and it really showcases the fact that scuba diving is truly a unifying activity in the world!

It seems that the Gulf of Thailand escaped what can oftentimes be a brutal monsoon season. The weather is not just outstanding for this time of the year, but for anytime! We’ve seen nothing but sun for the most part of the last few weeks. Now, we look forward to 2010 and expect some great diving conditions and (fingers-crossed!) another successful season.
The new course that our video team has created, the BSAC Pro HD Underwater Video course, has proven to be hugely popular as it is the only one of its kind in the industry. Professional Divemasters, Instructors and even non-divers with a keen interest in film-making are lining up to participate in this exciting new field. Currently, the team has 3 trainees (Alvin, Simon and sadly, not Theodore, rather Rudey) with a fourth coming next week. Each will finish the 2 week course followed by a 1 month paid internship while gaining further experience.
Last night the full TGI crew including the IDC, Video and Freediving teams went to the Monsoon Gym Muay Thai Event on Sairee beach to show support for TGI Muay Intern, Abdi. He put up a great fight and lost a narrow 3-round decision to a much more experienced fighter.

This time next week, we’ll be finishing up the PADI Instructor Exam and preparing for another big celebration!
