Thailand Gap Year Internships- May Koh Tao IDC Update

The May group of Thailand Gap Year Internships Instructor candidates are progressing through the IDC with flying colors, so far. Our 17 people are on track to be PADI Instructors as of the 28th of this month.

The weather has been amazing lately. Visibility on all of the dive sites is as good as it’s been in months with 25-30 meters being the average. We’ve finally been getting some much-needed rain which has helped to cool the island down after a blistering hot month of April with highs near 40C most days.

After a great Open Water session yesterday morning I cooked up the monthly Texas barbecue of beercan chicken, potato salad and coleslaw. We all had a few beers and some lively conversation at Mark’s house. Today, we have a day off though a few of the guys have decided to come in and take some remedial PADI Divemaster Thailand exams in preparation for next week’s PADI Instructor Exam.

Koh Tao's soon-to-be PADI Dive Instructors!

Tomorrow, we’ll have a day teaching the Emergency First Response Instructor Course (EFRI) along with the PADI Oxygen Provider course. Everyone’s looking forward to another great result on the IE so that they can begin the Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT) Internship.

On the 30th, we’ll be heading over to the mainland to do a cave diving trip to  Khao Sok Marine Park. That’s always a real eye-opener for the uninitiated as it’s the first time most of the guys have been diving in freshwater, and the scenery at the park is breathtaking.

The crew from TGI wishes all the guys the best for the upcoming Exam!
