Another group of international students have just begun their PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) with the crew from Thailand Gap Internships. This time we have 10 IDC candidates and 7 IDC Staff and Course Directors from 12 different countries- again with vastly different life experiences! Diving’s ability to cross borders so fluidly and reach so many people from differing backgrounds is truly amazing.
We began on the 2nd of November and have managed to make it through our IDC prep course. Tomorrow we will do the Marine Resource Management seminar before beginning with the 1st set of Divemaster exams in the afternoon. Then we’ll have 10 days of Open Water Scuba Instructor training before the PADI Instructor Exam begins on the 16th. By the 19th, we expect to begin the Master Scuba Diving Internship on Koh Tao.
As we are in the monsoon, we expect a few challenges on the IDC, but the crew has high hopes of finishing the year with another 100% record of success on the PADI Exam. Best of luck guys!
