Koh Tao Divemaster/Instructor Barbecue Finds a New Home!

A few nights ago, the crew from Thailand Gap-year Internships invited all the current Divemaster and Dive Instructor Candidates to the monthly barbecue! All of the shop stafff were there as well. This month we found a new home for the big mixers- the new MOOV Bar and hangout in Mae Haad.

PADI Divemaster Internship Dinner

PADI Course Director, Darius, on the Barbecue....

Once again the party was a great success with close to 60 attending. With PADI Dive Instructor Bas helping me, we cooked up 13 kilos of my special Beercan Chicken and 16 kilos of Texas Barbecued ribs with spicy Jack Daniels barbecue sauce. To round it out we had coleslaw, potato salad and, of course, a few boxes of ice-cold beers. Bas and I spent the day cooking at my place for the big party and I really appreciated being able to transport the food to Moov which meant that they got stuck with the clean-up. The Gulf of Thailand is experiencing some of the nicest weather that we’ve had in months and the Koh Tao internship trainees are soaking up all the sun, fun, drinks and atmosphere that has made the place famous!

The PADI DM and IDC programs really let you work up an appetite!

We’ve had many new people coming for the Divemaster and Instructor Internships recently and the island is abuzz with the sounds of happy divers coming and going to the sea. In a couple of days, the Koh Tao IDC group will be finishing up the January program and will be starting the PADI Instructor Exam. The night away from the books was a perfect way to break the tension of an accumulated 9 days of hard work.

Food for all!
