{"id":43,"date":"2009-12-01T05:45:01","date_gmt":"2009-12-01T12:45:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/news\/?p=43"},"modified":"2010-04-19T03:08:18","modified_gmt":"2010-04-19T10:08:18","slug":"gap-year-thailand-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/news\/gap-year-thailand-news\/","title":{"rendered":"Thailand Gap Internships- News From Koh Tao"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last night the crew from <strong>Thailand Gap Internships<\/strong> went out to  Monsoon Gym for a fight night to support Abdi- one of our <a title=\"muaythai-internship-MMA-THAILAND-KOHTAO\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/gap-year-thailand\/muay-thai-boxing-training.html\">Muay Thai internship<\/a> trainees. It was a great night and in his first pro fight (he was paid  1500 Thai baht- about 45USD!), he put on an awesome show in a full time  judge&#8217;s decision victory! Despite the fact that he&#8217;d only been training  on Koh Tao for 6 weeks and his opponent had about 20 fights under his  belt, he showed a lot of heart in a hard won effort which made us all  proud.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"muaythai-training-internship-fight\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/images\/abdi1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"muaythai-training-internship-fight\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Pre-fight&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"MUAY-THAI-INTERNSHIP-FIGHTING-TRAINING\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/images\/abdi7\" border=\"0\" alt=\"MUAY-THAI-INTERNSHIP-FIGHTING-TRAINING\" \/><br \/>\n<em>It&#8217;s on!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/muaythai-training-thailand-kohtao\" src=\"images\/abdi5\" border=\"0\" alt=\"muaythai-training-thailand-kohtao\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Declared the winner as Pi Toon, the co-owner of  Monsoon Gym and Muay Thai Camp, looks on (in yellow&#8230;)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In  other news the Master Scuba Diver Internship is now underway with the  last group of new <a title=\"dive-instructor-training-padi-internship\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/scuba-diving-internships\/dive-instructor-internship.html\">PADI Dive Instructors<\/a>.  We&#8217;ve completed Enriched Air Nitrox training along with Search and  Recovery, Digital Underwater Photography, Deep Diver and Underwater  Naturalist. As the weather is getting good now, we&#8217;ll plan a day on the  boat soon to the Unicorn wreck so we can complete our Wreck Diver  Specialty Instructor with our friends from the MV Trident.<\/p>\n<p>Professional  <a title=\"hd-underwater-video-muay thai-internship-thailand\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/scuba-diving-internships\/paid-gap-year.html\">HD Underwater  Video<\/a> intern Rudey just began her course a few days ago and we look  forward to Alvin and Simon joining on the 1st. If only we had a  Theodore, we&#8217;d be starting all of The Chipmunks on the Pro video course!<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"FREEDIVING-INTERNSHIP-THAILAND-KOHTAO-APNEA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/gap-year-thailand\/apnea-freediving-training.html\">Freediving<\/a> team  is also back on the island and will be starting courses soon.<\/p>\n<p>Koh  Tao&#8217;s weather has been absolutley stunning for this time of the year  with the shortest monsoon season that any of us can remember, so far.
