{"id":17,"date":"2010-03-17T03:42:42","date_gmt":"2010-03-17T10:42:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/news\/?p=17"},"modified":"2010-04-19T02:35:11","modified_gmt":"2010-04-19T09:35:11","slug":"thailand-gap-internships-conducts-first-ever-idc-on-koh-phangan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/news\/thailand-gap-internships-conducts-first-ever-idc-on-koh-phangan\/","title":{"rendered":"Thailand Gap Internships Conducts First Ever IDC on Koh Phangan!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the 16th of March, the sleepy little fishing village of Chaloklum  on the north side of <strong>Koh Phangan<\/strong> in the <strong>Gulf of Thailand<\/strong> was alive with  music, drinks and a massive, free Mexican-Style buffet in celebration of  the island&#8217;s first <strong>PADI Instructor Exam<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"phangan-idc-intsructor-internship-PADI\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/images\/phangan1\" border=\"0\" alt=\"phangan-idc-intsructor-internship-PADI\" \/><br \/>\n<em>New Instructors- Baby Alex, Bondi, Old Greg, Dobby,  Eva, Nods and Raph with Examiner George, Stef, Alex, Neil and me&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I  had the privilege of conducting an IDC for a former student who now  owns an amazing little dive center- Sail Rock Divers. Alex Arnold and  his lovely wife Rachel were able to round up 7 eager <strong>PADI Divemasters<\/strong> from a number of shops around the island who were ready to make the step  to<strong> Open Water Scuba Instructor<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"koh-phangan-instructor-PADI-internship\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/images\/phangan2\" border=\"0\" alt=\"koh-phangan-instructor-PADI-internship\" \/><br \/>\nEva and George&#8230;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Better known for it&#8217;s  famous Full Moon Party on the south of the island, Koh Phangan is a  sleeping giant of the dive industry. Just 15 minutes away from Sail  Rock- one of the world&#8217;s best dive sites, and a number of stunning  fringing reefs, my guess is it won&#8217;t be long before divers will find  this place.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"idc-phangan-thailand-internship\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/images\/phangan3\" border=\"0\" alt=\"idc-phangan-thailand-internship\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Sail Rock on a good day!<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/\">Thailand Gap Year\u00a0 internships<\/a> will soon be offering our internship packages to those  looking for a change of pace from the bustling Koh Tao dive scene. I  look forward to returning in a few months to again work with Neil and  Stefan- two of the best PADI Master Instructors I&#8217;ve ever had assisting  me! They made my transition from <strong>Koh Tao<\/strong> seamless and were an integral  part of maintaining the TGI 100% success rate on the PADI Instructor  Exam.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 0pt none;\" title=\"kohphangan-idc-instructor-internship\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gapinternshipsthailand.com\/images\/phangan4\" border=\"0\" alt=\"kohphangan-idc-instructor-internship\" width=\"400\" height=\"570\" \/><br \/>\n<em>World class diving on Koh Phangan!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Congratulations  to the 7 new PADI Instructors, and the staff and crew from Sail Rock  Divers, Reefers Divers and Haad Yao Divers!
