Safety and Contact during Gap Year Thailand Internships One of the most important objectives of our internships is that you have a great time in Koh Tao. To ensure that happens, we've created some simple guidelines for keeping everyone safe and coherent. Here's the background: Koh Tao is easily one of the most beautiful and unique tropical islands on the planet. Due to the fact that it was quite slow to develop and the first bungalows and resorts were quite rudimentary, the low budget backpackers were the first Western tourists to discover and fall in love with the island’s beaches and diving. Its development has been gradual, but the island still caters to a much younger crowd than the more auspicious islands to the south. There are however, a number of bars on Koh Tao and a few local police to ensure that we all keep the peace. Our internships are designed for those who are looking to take seriously the challenges that will be put before them and apply themselves to the hard work of becoming a positive role-model in the training discipline they choose. Our interns are expected to show up each day at an appointed time to check in with their trainers, apply themselves fully to their training and ask questions to clarify anything of which they are unsure. They all will be provided a phone with the numbers of their trainers whom they may call in regard to their courses as well as both of their sponsors- Gary and Darius- who can help out with any other concerns. Our internships are just that- internships, which often involve real-life, hands-on experience in a working environment. Professionalism and respect to staff and customers are expected at all times. We do encourage our interns to enjoy themselves and blow off some steam from time to time, all the while keeping in mind that they are representatives of the businesses that train them and must act accordingly. Darius likes to get his grill going every now and then and will invite the interns over for a barbecue and a few beers as a way of giving everyone a chance to get to know new people. It also allows him to keep tabs on everyone's progress. Days off will be scheduled periodically. Gary and Darius will happily intervene if need be to revise schedules and help to put those who lose their way back on track.
Learning Agreements Learning Agreements are a part of each of our training regimens and outline the responsibilities of both the Training Facilities and the Trainees. The purpose of completing the learning agreement is that we all understand exactly what's intended and expected during our Gap Year Thailand Internships.
