Yesterday marked the end of the Assistant Instructor portion of the Thailand Gap-Year Internships (TGI) November IDC. The group, which has spent most of the past 3-4 months together on their Divemaster course internship are having a great time and making easy work of the curriculum. Jef can't get enough of the monsoon!
After starting off in the classroom with some theory exams, we all got a welcome break from the harsh weather of the monsoon and took advantage with a beautiful afternoon on the boat. We took time to practice our PADI Open Water skills at Koh Tao's beautiful Fantasy Reef which features a sunken tuk-tuk among other attractions. Barry, Kev, Tommo and Keri sharing a moment...
We started off with the required 800 meter snorkel swim which everyone took at a leisurely pace, and then moved to the IDC Candidate presentations before doing a CESA workshop and a review of the PADI Rescue Diver assessment. Tommo enjoying the sun
This morning will see our guys practicing their Confined Water presentations in the pool, while they'll get a chance to practice their classroom presentations later-on in the IDC center. Hard to believe that in just a week's time, we'll have another 10 happy new PADI Instructors! Professional Underwater Videographer- some say THIS is the best job in the world! In other news, Elisabeth's just putting the finishing touches on the BSAC Professional Underwater Videographer manual that she's been asked to write. She's decided to focus the course primarily on HD underwater video shooting and editing techniques to ensure that the training material is sufficiently, technologically advanced. As Oceans Below has the most high-tech underwater video training facility in Thailand, our TGI candidates will receive the most up-to-date and sophisticated training in the industry.
